In early February, the Booster Club held our annual Crab Feed in the St. Francis gym. This event is one of the club’s fundraisers and I am very pleased to report that we increased our profit by 60%, netting just over $12,000. This accomplishment was due to the generosity of our attending parents. The monies raised enable our athletic daughters to continue to reach new personal goals, and in some cases, regional, state and national titles. This is significant as so many area school districts are cancelling their sports programs or charging students to play. With events like the Crab Feed, SF athletics remain strong.
How did Boosters do this? This year we added a few new elements that were well received by our patrons. They included an after dinner dessert bid of specialty cakes and cupcakes donated by amazing area bakeries. They included: Etorre’s, Konditorei, Dianda’s Italian Bakery, Babycakes Bakery, and Cupcake Craving. Freeport Bakery provided a special red and white chocolate granache covered fudge and caramel cake. We nicknamed it The Troubie and it was the dessert that garnered the highest bid. Five Star Bank also donated a Luxury Suite at a River Cats game, and the Kolokotronis family offered two Kings Row seats at an upcoming game, but it was our Personal Booster-Que that netted the highest bid(s). To the winner(s) we doubled down will go an on-site (their home or business), authentic Booster-Que for 50 people complete with grilled tri-tip, chicken and vegiburgers. Special thanks to our intrepid BBQers!
Of course, none of this would have happened if it weren’t for the tremendous efforts of the Crab Feed Committee. My personal thanks goes to: Dave Evans, Tim Conway, Jerry Flynn, Greg Nyland, Theresa Gonzalez, Jill Shortly, Michelle Rademann, Mimi Fitsimon, Paula Lindquist, Shari Scheller, Randy Cheek, Lourdes Petralli, Wendi Wegener and Charles Chan. In sum, the Crab Feed was a wonderful night where the St. Francis community came together for a winter treat, school support, and merriment. A win, win, win!
THEY PLAY, WE CHEER!
