Dear Loretto Families,
The St. Francis High School administration has been working diligently to assure the enrollment of an optimum number of Loretto students. The application process for incoming freshman students and transfer students from Loretto is now complete. The St. Francis Admissions Committee has processed the applications and mailed notification letters.
The St. Francis High School community now looks forward to welcoming Loretto students and their families onto our campus. As these Lion-hearted Troubadours bring their great talent and energy to enhance our St. Francis family, we are confident they will continue to achieve their potential through our outstanding college preparatory curriculum and co-curricular programs.
Transportation Options for Students
St. Francis High School serves students from the greater Sacramento area. Students and parents make their own car-pool or other transportation arrangements, including private bus service and light rail.

February 6th Letter to Loretto Families
Dear Loretto High School Families:
Thank you for attending the information meetings held at Christian Brothers and St. Francis high schools earlier this week. As you continue to review and reflect on your options for the next school year, we want to provide you with updated information on the application process.
During the course of this week’s information meetings, the issue of permitting Loretto High School students to apply to both schools was raised. After much prayerful consideration, we ask that families submit applications only to the transfer school of first preference. We believe this will best serve your daughters while allowing each school to begin the process of effectively welcoming our new community members. To address your concerns, however, both schools will follow the same application timeline and pledge to do all that they can to have a place for your daughter next year in a Catholic high school. To this end, we are allowing students who are not offered admission to their transfer school of preference to apply to the other high school after they have received notification from their first choice school. We assure you that your applications will be fairly considered by the alternate school. For example, if a student is not admitted to St. Francis High School, she may then apply at Christian Brothers, and, vice-versa. Again, every effort will be made to have a position for your daughter in one of the two schools.
It is important to note that if your daughter is admitted to Christian Brothers and officially enrolls there, St. Francis will not accept her application at a later date. Likewise, if your daughter is admitted to St. Francis and officially enrolls there, Christian Brothers will not accept her application at a later date. In addition, because of the two schools’ need to hire faculty and staff to serve new students, students and parents need to understand the importance of following through on their commitment of enrollment.
Transfer students please keep the following dates in mind:
- Transfer applications must be submitted to your school of preference by Friday, February 13.
- Christian Brothers and St. Francis will mail letters of admission on Friday, February 20, with an enrollment night for Christian Brothers’ families on March 4 and a registration deadline for St. Francis of March 4.
- In order to expedite the admission process, St. Francis will not require interviews for transfer applicants from Loretto.
Incoming 9th Graders: The admissions process and timeline for incoming 9th graders who took the placement exam at Loretto High School is the following.
- Application and forms are due to St. Francis by Friday, February 6, 2009.
- Interviews for prospective St. Francis students are scheduled between 3:00 and 7:00 p.m., on Friday, February 13, 2009.
- Applications and forms are due to Christian Brothers on Friday, February 13, 2009.
- Letters of decision will be mailed from St. Francis on February 23 and Christian Brothers in March.
