Doubles Pairs Earn All-Delta League Honors

ELK GROVE, Calif. – Senior sisters Kyla and Kiya Jackson won their third consecutive Delta League Doubles Championship, earning the automatic berth to the Sac-Joaquin Section tournament. The Jacksons defeated Jaylynn Tan and Hallie Wilson of Franklin in the championship match 6-1, 7-5 to win their fourth match of the day.

They defeated teammates Izzy Asker and Cameron Parra in the semifinals 6-1, 6-1. The duo of Asker and Parra had advanced with two wins earlier in the day. They opened with a win over Ashley Cresci and Danielle Beningfield of Elk Grove 6-3, 6-3. Then, they posted a three-set comeback win over Tyanne Tonnu and Loni Harris of Pleasant Grove. After dropping the first set 5-7, they rebounded with a 6-1 win and then took the tiebreak set 10-5.

Asker and Parra played in the third-place match with a chance to advance to the section tournament but fell in straight sets to the Davis duo of Nancy Avoce and Lyna Joing.

Sophomore Bianca Ariza and freshman Alex Evans lost in the first round 5-7, 6-3, 1-0 (10-7).

The team won the Delta League title and will advance to the section tournament next week. The bracket will be announced on Thursday.
