Jacksons Win USTA Team Tennis National Title

ORLANDO, Fla. – St. Francis seniors Kiya and Kyla Jackson won the USTA Junior Team Tennis national championships in the 18U Intermediate division with their team based at Laguna Creek Racquet Club. The three-day tournament was contested at the USTA National Campus in Orlando.

The team advanced to the finals by defeating the Tennis ADDicts (Mid-Atlantic) 55-44 in the semifinals with the Jacksons providing a doubles win 6-5, 6-4. They won the title with a 49-36 win over Berry Creek out of Texas 49-36 with the Jackson providing a three set win in doubles 5-6, 6-0, 1-0.

Overall, Kiya and Kyla went 3-0 as doubles partners and went 5-0 in the four matches.

The Northern California team cruised in pool play winning 120 of 147 games without losing a set or match to reach the championship round. They defeated Middle States 60-18 and the Southwest representative 60-9.

Matches were decided by total games in two singles (male and female), two doubles (male and female) and one mixed doubles match.

The Laguna Creek team included Hallie Wilson, Patrick Wall, Luke Gravel, Alex Fung, Jaylynn Tann and Jeremy Schubert. They are coached by Jesse Pangilinan and Mark Fairchilds.
