Soccer Opens Delta League Play Tuesday

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The St. Francis soccer team will open Delta League play on Tuesday, Jan. 2 at 3:30 p.m. at Granite Regional Park against Grant.

The Troubadours are coming off the Tri-Valley Classic, posting a 2-0-2 record over the two day tournament. St. Francis posted a pair of ties against San Ramon Valley (1-1) behind a Jane DeFazio goal and 0-0 tie versus Clayton Valley Charter as Sydney Galvan and Kimberly Riley combined for the shutout.

On Saturday, the Troubadours trailed twice in the game 1-0 and 2-1 before posting a comeback win over Bishop O’Dowd. A.J. Tanner, who assisted on Marli Berry’s goal to tie the game at 1, scored in the 61stminute to tie it at two. Senior Anna Huber scored the game-winner in the 71st minute off an assist by Lindsey Porter.

Porter provided the difference-maker in the final game, scoring in the opening minute against Freedom.

St. Francis finishes the preseason schedule with a 5-2-3 mark. The Junior Varsity Red team opens play on Tuesday at 2 p.m.
