SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Anissah Surita missed most of her senior season on the field but she as not ready to hang up her cleats. The Sacramento native will play again next fall at Folsom Lake College.

“I am super excited and I am playing with three of my club teammates,” said Surita, who will study kinesiology and hopes to become a physical therapist.

Surita suffered a torn Achilles tendon during club soccer season that eventually sidelined her for most of the high school season.

“It was really tough especially because it was senior year,” said Surita. “It made it the worst because it was last season and I missed all the senior events. At least I got to be on the sideline and watch.”

Surita was a two-year letter winner in the soccer program and played one season with the varsity softball team in 2017.

“It really helped me grow as a player and a person,” said Surita playing for St. Francis. “The players I have been with from freshman year to varsity helped push me to be a better player especially during my year and a few games at varsity.”

Surita will join a program that has won five consecutive conference titles and reached back-to-back CCCAA state Final Fours.

“I really like the coaches there and one of my coaches is an assistant for my club,” said Siurita. “It is a really good fit, staying close to home is a good fit for me and being able to play with my club teammates.”

Surita, who played with her injury for five months, is concentrating on her rehab to be ready to train this summer.

“It is really intense and tiring but I know it is what I need to do to get back on the field,” said Surita.

Folsom Lake College, under the direction of Donny Ribaudo, has developed a strong reputation for placing players after graduation.

“I am hoping it will open a lot of opportunities with Universities after the two years,” said Surita. “They have a really successful program and have 12 sophomores moving on to play this year.”

Surita will participate in the St. Francis Spring Signing Day Celebration on April 11.
