SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The St. Francis tennis seniors were recognized prior to the match and helped clinch with a 9-0 win to wrap up the regular season undefeated with a third straight Delta League title.

“It feels great because we did it as a team,” said Head Coach Kristi Spector. “Everybody contributed all the way down the ladder – all 18 girls. Overall, we lost five individual matches the entire season.”

The seniors played at four of the singles positions and top doubles spot. Kyla Jackson was a 6-0, 6-0 winner at No. 1, while Kiya Jackson went 6-1, 6-0 at No. 4. Marisa Fat also won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 and classmate Cameron Parra was a straight-set winner at No. 5. Underclassman Alex Evans and Sam Sonntag both contributed singles wins at No. 4 and No. 6, respectively.

“This is a really special match for us because it is our last league match,” said Parra. “It is senior night. We just wanted to do our best and work hard. We want to cherish every moment.”

Senior Stephanie Fong paired with junior Roya Pahlavan to post a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles versus Theresa Nguyen and Corliss Lay.

“It means the culmination of all my years doing tennis,” said. Fong of her senior match. “I had a really great time with everyone on the team. It was amazing to (contribute) in my senior match. I think we have a really strong team every year and I am glad to be part of it.”

The Troubadours finish the regular season 12-0 in league play and 15-0 on the seaspn. Delta League singles and doubles tournaments will be played next week before the start of the Sac-Joaquin Section tennis draw.
