SACRAMENTO, Calif. – St. Francis is the top seed in the Sac-Joaquin Section Division I Tennis bracket announced Thursday.

“We are really excited,” said senior Cameron Parra. “We worked really hard to get to this point of the season. We need to stay focused in every match. We are excited to show what we got and hopefully go as far as we can.”

St. Francis will open play with a home match on Wednesday, Nov. 1 against the winner of the Oct. 30 match between McClatchy and Armijo.

St. Francis posted a 15-0 overall record (12-0 in Delta) and won the Best of Sacramento Showcase in August. Del Oro, the top seed from the SFL, is atop the other half of the bracket at No. 2.

Led by Head Coach Kristi Spector, St. Francis advanced to the section finals last year and the NorCal quarterfinals.  The Troubadours were well represented at the Delta League Singles and Doubles Championships this week. Parra paired with Izzy Asker and the duo finished fourth.

“It was really good for us to work together and play some really hard matches,” said Parra. “It was the toughest we have hit all season and was good preparation for our upcoming matches.”

Match time is scheduled for 2 p.m. at Rio del Oro Racquet Club. The winner advances to play on Tuesday, Nov. 7 in the semifinals. The finals are on Thursday, Nov. 9.
The Division I champion and the runner-up will represent the SJS in the CIF NorCal playoffs.
