SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The St. Francis volleyball team swept Davis on Monday to remain undefeated in Delta League play with a 3-0 win over the Blue Devils. The Troubadours won 25-15, 25-19, 25-18.

“Davis played very well tonight and put up a really strong block,” said Head Coach Alynn Wright. “Their middles did a good job tonight. I was proud of some of the defense we played tonight. I think the defense was what won for us. We were not firing on all cylinders.”

Senior Aiyu Aimufua hit a team-best 46.2 with seven kills. Junior Kathryn Kramer added 12 kills, while Alexa Edwards posted a double-double with 14 kills and 10 digs. Aubrey Kenny led the team with 19 digs.

“At the end of the day defense wins championships so I was happy with that,” said Wright.

SF opened with a 25-15 victory in the first set. Davis came out strong in the second, winning the first five points to force a Troubadour timeout and led 11-7 before the Troubies got back in control to tie the set at 15. SF won 10 of the final points to win the set. SF closed out the sweep with a 25-18 win in the third.

“It is their mantra – they are able to come back and they believe in themselves and the ability to come back,” said Wright. “It was really big for us tonight. We figured out how to win on a Monday.”

Wright praised Madie Bachelor and her play on the right side, contributing six kills.

St. Francis travels to Elk Grove on Wednesday.
