Reminder about Senior Painted Parking Day
News
THERE IS NO ALCOHOL allowed at this event. Please remind your parents this is a student based event.
- Due to requests by the City of Sacramento, the M Street driving gate will be permanently closed to vehicle traffic. The pedestrian gate will remain open.
- The parking areas that are directly next to the theater building, the JV softball field, and portables have been re-designated back to staff parking. This does not impact the main student lots, parking by the grass area of the softball fields, or parking by the warehouse area for seniors.
- There are plenty of spots in the main student lot to accommodate all the seniors who have requested painted parking spaces. You do not have to use the grass area of the softball field or warehouse area unless you choose to do so.
- There is no painting of the EV parking spots, those are open for all student’s to use.
- Dean Cost will send the order for choosing a space on Friday, Aug 9. You will line up quickly, and she will call your number to choose your space (again, this will take about 10 minutes for everyone to choose their spot). We will start calling numbers promptly at 8:00am.
- All students and parents must park in the cell phone lot; no vehicles may be in the painting lots.
- Only designated students are allowed to line up. Parents and others, and any painting gear, must remain in the cell phone lot until all students have chosen their spots.
What students will need to bring on painting day:
The sites have previous paintings on them so plan on covering a background with your paint prior to starting your design. Everything takes longer than you think it will. Please use templates to make painting easier and faster if you have a complicated design.
- A broom to sweep your area clear before you paint
- Chalk if you want to sketch your design before painting
- Ruler or tape measure to mark the boundaries of your design
- Regular house paint in whatever colors you need.
- Buckets and/or small containers to mix your individual colors.
- Paper towels, rags, etc. to help clean up spillage.
- Paint brushes, rollers, trays, tape, stencils, trash bags and any other painting supplies as needed.
- If it is a hot day, please wear a hat, bring lots of water and sunscreen, and bring portable shade/umbrellas.
Students may NOT bring:
- Reflective/fluorescent paint
- Spray paint
- Airless paint sprayers
- Glitter or clear coat (this becomes slippery when wet)
REMEMBER the parking lot surface will be even hotter than the outside air. It is important that, if you have a complicated pattern, it is recommended to make templates or cutouts to help you get done as quickly as possible.
