SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The St. Francis track and field team won six individual and relay events at the Matador Invitational on Saturday to complete an exciting and busy week for the team.

Junior Chanel Grimes won the 100 meters with a personal-best 12.88, while the Troubies captured three field event titles. Sophomore Meghan Ladd took the pole vault with a season-best 10-11.5, while sophomore Isabella Palchak cleared 5-0 feet. Senior Isabella Rudis won the triple jump with a personal best 34-1.75.

Two St. Francis relays crossed the line first in their events. The 4×200-meter relay (Reyna Johnson, Grimes, Isabelle Grassel and Bryn Polly) combined for a 1:48.61, while the 4×800-meter relay (Sydney Vandegrift, Hanna Hekkanan, Haley Silva and Grace Harrson) crossed in 9:55.04. The Troubies also finished second in the distance and spring relays.

Sophomore Emma Hollenbach ran a personal-best in the 5000 meters to finish second overall. Palchak was second in the 100m hurdles in 16.96 to place second, while Nicole McBride was third in the 800 meters (2:25.61). Elizabeth Ramm placed fourth in the 1500 meters (5:24.43). Madison Gravelle threw the discus 65-0 feet to finish third.

St. Francis defeated Christian Brothers 77-10 in the Holy Spikes meet on Wednesday at Jesuit, winning 10 running events and three field events.

“It was good seeing the team together,” said Head Coach Rod Jett after the meet with CB. “The main thing is about the first race for a lot of girls on the team. It is the first real meet situation so they can see where they are.”

St. Francis continues Delta League meets this week against Grant and Monterey Trail on Wednesday at Monterey Trail.
