SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The St. Francis volleyball program celebrated their six seniors and all three programs completed undefeated Delta League seasons with wins over Monterey Trail on Thursday night.

“It was a great night for the program,” said Head Coach Alynn Wright. “The coaches for the freshman and JV teams did n phenomenal job. They worked really hard and did not want the season to end. When it was over, they were sad it was over and that is a tribute to the coaches.”

St. Francis swept Monterey Trail 25-4, 25-12, 25-15 as Alexa Edwards led the team with 15 kills and added eight digs.

“We have a special group of seniors and I was proud of all the underclassman for how hard they worked to put together such a memorable night,” said Wright. “Then they went out and played hard for them, creating a special night for the seniors.”

The Troubadours posted a 14-0 record in league play. It is the 21st title in school history but first since 2013.

“I am really proud of us for working really hard this season,” said Kenny. “It definitely was our main goal (winning Delta League), which is exciting.”

“It was such a great feeling,” said Malaney. “I am so thankful for Allyn, Taryn and Bill for making it possible. It was really cool.”

St. Francis will await the announcement of the playoff brackets on Friday.

“We know we have a lot of game planning and things to work on still,” said senior Carly Simpson. “We have a goal set in mind and we just have to take baby steps.”
