Emergency Services Professionals Wanted for Parent Safety Committee

Email blast Cynthia Cost

The safety of everyone while on the campus of St. Francis Catholic High School is of the utmost importance.  As with everything we do as a community, we constantly evaluate how we operate and if the best procedures are in place.  In order to accomplish this efficiently and expeditiously, each year we employ the help of our families, particularly those with emergency and medical backgrounds.

Purpose

The purpose of our Parent Safety Committee is to work collaboratively to promote safety and well-being at St. Francis Catholic High School. The Parent Safety Committee is an advisory body to the administration. The committee meets four times a school year to evaluate campus safety, review of current safety programs, review of building/plant safety hazard assessments and to recommend solutions. The committee additionally works on accountability/reunification procedures and training and other needs as determined by the administration.

We have developed a coordinated emergency response plan that is built on the Incident Command System (ICS).  The ICS has been adopted by our school Emergency Response Team as a unified approach for how we will work with our police department, fire department, emergency management, city/county/state providers and additional emergency response personnel to effectively respond to and manage varied emergencies.

Organization

The Parent Safety Committee is composed of: The Dean of Students, parents who are emergency services personnel (Fire, Police, EMS), medical professionals and applicable government employees.  Committee members will serve terms of at least one year. The committee will work in conjunction with the SFHS Emergency Response Team made of various employees of the school and the SFHS Student Safety team.
