These are the best private high schools in the Sacramento area

“Evaluating local schools can be complex, as rating systems consider a variety of factors.

As platforms like Niche release annual school rankings, the Sacramento Business Journal is delving deeper into the region’s private high schools. To provide a broader view, we looked at data on major aspects such as enrollment, diversity and college admissions.

Niche, a Pittsburgh-based website, assigns letter grades to schools based on factors such as academics, diversity, teaching quality, college preparation, extracurricular activities and sports. These grades are determined using data from official sources like the U.S. Department of Education, as well as self-reported information and reviews from students and parents.

For private high schools, more than half the rating is based on college-related metrics, such as the colleges students are interested in and the percentage of seniors who go on to four-year institutions.

This year, six active high schools in the Sacramento area earned an overall grade of A or A-plus. Sacramento Country Day School topped the local rankings, with all its seniors heading to four-year colleges. It was followed by St. Francis High School, Christian Brothers High School, Jesuit High School, Sacramento Waldorf School and Al-Arqam Islamic School and College Preparatory School.

The chart below shows the criteria these schools were rated on and their grades.” Read the entire article here…
