Track and Field Competes at Husky, Dublin Events

ELK GROVE, Calif. – The St. Francis track and field team competed at two events on Saturday, including the Husky Invitational and the Dublin Distance Fiesta.

Senior Elizabeth Hennessy posted a season-best 45.85 in the 300m hurdles to finish second and was ninth in the 100m hurdles (16.84). Meaghan Rogers was fourth in the 200m in 26.79.

Freshman Meghan Ladd and senior Olivia Birmingham each cleared 9-0 to finish fifth and sixth, respectively, in the pole vault. Ladd broke her own freshman school record of 8-2 set at the Sacramento State Classic two weeks ago. She originally broke the record set by Emily Tuscano in 2008.

In Dublin, junior Sydney Vandegrift was second in the 3200 in 10:49 to earn an automatic invitational spot at the Arcadia Invitational. She also anchored the DMR to a runner-up finish in 12:40.10 with teammates Sophie DeBenedetti, Haley Silva and Noelle Lynch. DeBenedetti was the top finisher in the 800 with a time of 2:24.05, while Vandegrift was ninth in the 1600 in 5:04.98.

Overall, the team posted 18 personal-bests in the 1600 and 15 in the 800 meters.
