Track Posts Top Early Performances at Holy Spikes
CARMICHAEL, Calif. – The St. Francis track and field team swept the running events and took the high and long jump and pole vault events before darkness ended the annual Holy Spikes meet with Christian Brothers and Cristo Rey at the Jesuit track Wednesday.
Senior Meaghan Rogers had a personal-best 12.59 to win the 100 meters as the Troubies placed five of the top six runners. Sophomore Kathryn Kramer won the 400 meters in a personal-best 1:02.16, while senior Sydney Vandegrift took the 1600 meters in 5:33.64. Serena Shimada clocked a personal-best 16.14 in winning the 100m hurdles and Yahsmeene Duffy claimed the 300m hurdles in 50.06.
In the jumps, Jordan Walsh led the competition with a personal-best clearance at 4-8, while Rogers took the long jump with a leap of 16-1. In the shot put, Sarah Healy led the team with a throw of 25-5 and senior Aubree Batt won the discus with a best of 61-3.
Senior Olivia Birmingham won the pole vault with a clearance at 8-10, while Katya Utter and Mollimykenna Whalen had vaults over 7-10.
St. Francis is off this weekend before competing against Grant and Monterey Trail on Wednesday, March 15.
