Standout Sophomore Earned National Recognition from PrepVolleyball.com and MaxPreps

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Sophomore Alexa Edwards has verbally committed to play volleyball at Pacific in 2020.

“I am so excited to announce my commitment to play D1 volleyball at the University of the Pacific,” said Edwards on Instagram. “Thank you to my family, teammates, and coaches who have been there to support me in making my decision. I can’t wait to be a Tiger!!”

Edwards was recently named to PrepVolleyball.com’s Soph 79 list (top sophomores in the country based on high school achievement). It  was her second national honor this postseason as she was also named to the 2017 MaxPreps Sophomore All-American Volleyball team in January, one of 23 players named to the squad and one of three Californians on the national roster.

Edwards was named the Delta League Most Valuable Player after leading the league with 512 kills (15th in the state) with a league-best 4.7 kills per set and 333 digs with the second-best per set average of 3.0. She was also third in hitting percentage (.280). It was the second all-league honor for Edwards.

She led the team as a captain, helping the Troubadours win the league title, advance to the Sac-Joaquin Section finals and be selected to the CIF State Open Division bracket. St. Francis lost to eventual state champion Archbishop Mitty.
