A Piece of My Heart by Shirley Lauro is based on the book with the same title by Keith Walker. The book was written in 1985 with origins in the San Francisco Bay Area, featuring interviews with 26 women sent to Vietnam during the war. The play premiered at The Manhattan Theatre Club off-Broadway in 1991. The play follows the stories of 6 women (inspired by the 26 women in the book) before, during, and after their return home from the war. It is a powerful drama that speaks to the anger, compassion, bravery, and fear of the American women’s experience during the Vietnam War. Click here for tickets.
