Three SFHS Lacrosse Players Named to 2011 National Tournament Team
St. Francis High School lacrosse players Celeste Holben ‘13, Meagan Bennett ‘13 and Charlotte Stewart ‘12 are among 40 high school students selected to two Northern California teams for the US Lacrosse Women’s Division National Tournament, to be held May 28-29, 2011 at Stony Brook University in New York. The Schoolgirls Division of the tournament features approximately 60 regional teams from across the country competing in six divisions. SFHS lacrosse Head Coach Dara Robbins will serve on the coaching staff of one of the Northern California teams.
The Women’s Division National Tournament began in 1933 to showcase the best post-collegiate and club women’s lacrosse players. Since that time, it has grown into one of the largest and most renowned women’s lacrosse events in the nation and features more than 75 teams in three levels of play: Schoolgirls, Seniors Only and Stars & Stripes (players intending to stand for selection to the U.S. National Team). This event attracts over 1,500 of the best competitors nationwide from every realm of women’s lacrosse as well as over 2,500 spectators.
The Schoolgirls’ Division features all-star rosters of girls in grades 9-11 from regions across the country. Six St. Francis players were invited to the highly competitive, invitation-only tryouts held May 1st in Burlingame.
Congratulations, Celeste, Meagan, and Charlotte!
