Arndt Named SUBWAY Student-Athlete of the Semester
FOLSOM, Calif. – Ariane Arndt was named the SUBWAY Student-Athlete of the Semester for the spring semester at St. Francis High School. Arndt joins tennis player Avery Spector, who earned the award for the fall, as the 2015-16 recipients.
Subway restaurants and the CIF have teamed to reward student-athletes all over California who have shown initiative, improvement and sportsmanlike conduct in their athletic programs throughout the year. Each student-athlete chosen received a $25 SUBWAY cash card and a certificate.
Arndt reset her own Sac-Joaquin Section meet record in winning the 400 meters and finished third at the state meet in the 800 meters. She broke her own school record in both events during the season. She was also part of the school-record 4×100-meter relay team that won the Delta League and SJS Masters titles to advance to the state championships. They reset the school record again at 47.62 to finish in 11th place at the CIF State Championships. Arndt anchored the 4×400-meter relay that finished ninth at the state championships and won the Arcadia Invitational.
