Barthels and Oys Earn NISCA All-American Status
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Former Troubadours Jenna Barthels ’16 and Maggie Oys ’16 were both named to the 2015-16 NISCA/Speedo Girls Water Polo All-America honors for their play from the 2015 season.
Barthels, who will be attending Cal-State Northridge, was one of 14 players named to the Water Polo All-America second team and among 16 Californians on the first two teams. She led the team with 47 goals and 70 assists on the season, earning All-Section and All-Delta League first-team honors.
Oys, who will play for Santa Clara, was selected for the All-America fifth team. She joined Barthels as a first-team selection by the Delta League and Sac-Joaquin Section. She scored 36 goals and totaled 50 points on the season.
St. Francis won the Sac-Joaquin Section Division I Championship, the fourth section title in water polo in school history and first since 2008.
NISCA is a professional organization that supports High School coaches of all aquatic sports. They are dedicated to coaches education and athlete recognition through the All America programs. NISCA allows opportunities for coaches to network and exchange knowledge and experience.
