SACRAMENTO, Calif. – St. Francis made a late comeback but it was not enough as Oak Ridge posted a 52-38 victory over the Troubadours Tuesday night.

St. Francis (12-8, 2-2) fell behind by 20 points in the third quarter after scoring just 10 points in the second and third quarters combined, including a 21-2 deficit in the second.

Junior Susie Rogers sparked the comeback with eight fourth-quarter points, adding a pair of three-pointers, a fast break layup and assist on another layup to Abby Dow that cut the lead to 10 points with 3:50 left.

“I was very proud with how they continued to fight,” said Head Coach Vic Pitton. “They never gave up and played the fourth quarter to get back in it and almost did. We can take something from that.”

But the Troubadours never got any closer.

Rogers finished with a game-high 16 points with seven boards, three assists and three steals.

“She had an outstanding game from an offensive standpoint,” said Pitton. “But she also played some great defense. She made a major contribution.”

Senior Gillian Balbierz knocked down a pair of three-pointers for six points, while Angie Ortiz added five in the second half.

Oak Ridge, ranked No. 18 in the state according to MaxPreps, improved to 16-4 and 4-0 in the Delta Rover League.

The Trojans were led by the 14 points by Jenn Hoffman.

St. Francis returns to DRL play again on Thursday, hosting Folsom. All three levels will compete starting with the freshman game at 4 p.m.
