Basketball Drops Opener at Pleasant Valley Tournament

CHICO, Calif. – The St. Francis fell behind by 14 points in the first half and fought back the rest of the game before falling 42-35 in the first round of the Pleasant Valley Viking Tournament Thursday night.

St. Francis failed to score in the quarter but trailed just 2-0. Colfax scored 20 points in the second quarter to take a 22-8 lead at the half. The Troubies cut into the lead in the second half but fell by seven points.

Sophomore Lauren Craig led the team with eight points, scoring all eight in the second half. Senior Amanda Davenport added seven points and Susie Rogers tallied five points in the loss.

The Troubadours (1-1) play Woodcreek at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.

The JV basketball team improved to 2-0 with a 55-26 win over Rocklin. They will play Oak Ridge tomorrow at 6:30 in the Roseville Holiday Tournament. The freshman defeated Sacramento High 50-33 and play again Friday at 6:30 p.m. in the Robby Nakamura Holiday Tournament hosted by Kennedy.
