PHOENIX, Ariz. – Four players scored in double figures as St. Francis posted a 79-15 win over Indio (Calif.) in the semifinals of the consolation bracket of the Grey Division at the Nike Tournament of Champions.

St. Francis (8-1) was led by 15 points and eight rebounds by junior Lauren Craig. Junior Angie Ortiz scored 14 points and grabbed four boards. Junior Kyra Huffman contributed 11 points, seven steals and five assists.

The Trouabdours started the game with a strong first quarter, scoring 25 points behind six points each by Huffman, Ortiz and sophomore Janae Fairbrook.

“I thought it was important for Janae to have a good game today,” said Head Coach Vic Pitton.

Fairbrook, who made her first career start for senior Susie Rogers, scored eight points and had eight assists in the win.

Junior Juliana Cerezo-Rangel had 11 points off the bench, including eight in the fourth quarter.

“Our start was really good,” said Cerezo-Rangel. “Everyone brought it and even the bench. It was really fun. We kept our head in the game and everyone had fun together. I am really happy for us.”

She hit a pair of three pointers from the left corner.

“It was a lot of fun because I don’t usually play wing,” said Cerezo-Rangel. “It made me feel really confident that could be a future position for me.”

Julia Razo added eight points in the win as 10 different players scored in the contest.

“The fact we were able get everyone is the game was great and Juliana really had a good game,” said Pitton. “That will give her a confidence boost.”

St. Francis held Indio to six points over the final three quarters, gaining confidence as a team with each minute.

“We wanted to play some good competition,” said Pitton. “We have a chance to win three games. Whether we win on Monday, it will still be a successful trip.”

St. Francis plays the Huntington Beach-Tolleson winner in the Consolation Bracket final on Monday at 11:40 a.m. at the Kroc Center.
