Divers Post Top-10 Finishes at Section Finals
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Senior Allison Autrey finished seventh and Patty Sullivan was ninth at the Sac-Joaquin Section Diving Finals contested Saturday at McClatchy High School.
“The girls performed well,” said Head Coach Dede Crayne. “It was a little breezy today but it was an even playing field for everybody.”
Autrey was the top finisher for the Troubadours with an 11-dive score of 325.90 to place seventh.
“It went pretty well,” said Autrey. “It was a lot better than I have been doing this year. It was a good last push to my last high school meet ever. It was a really emotional process but it was a great day.”
Autrey will dive for the UC Davis Aggies next fall.
“It is definitely one to remember not necessarily for the diving but for the memories,” said Autrey of her senior season. “I have come a long way with a new list and I am ready for college and hard diving. I am definitely prepared for a Division I school.”
Sullivan was ninth overall with a score of 316.70.
“Today was not my best day,” said Sullivan. “It was a lot tougher and I did not do was well as I usually do. There is one more year. It was not my day. It helps me to know that not every day is going to be your best and you always have to keep trying.”
St. Francis also had two junior varsity divers reach the finals including sophomores Tiffany Wong and Kristen Kopp. Wong finished second (344.15) and Kopp was eighth (297.25).
