Diving Preps for Section Meet at Jesuit Invitational

RIO LINDA, Calif. – Completing their 11-dive list, junior Patty Sullivan and senior Allison Autrey led the St. Francis diving team at the Jesuit Invitational on Saturday.

Sullivan was the top finisher at the meet for the Troubadours, posting a 355.85 total to finish fifth overall. Teammate Allison Autrey, who will dive for UC Davis next year, was sixth with a score of 349.80.

“It was really good today,” said Autrey. “I dove pretty well today and it was better than my last few meets. Overall, it was a really good meet for me. It is a good practice for sections so hopefully if I keep improving I can get All-American.”

For consideration for All-America honors, divers must score a 375.0 or higher.

The divers made the transition to the 11-dive list from the six-dive list performed in prep dual meets. They performed the 11 dive for the first time at the league championships.

“It is a lot more pressure,” said Autrey. “It is a lot more to focus on because not only do you have your optionals but you have your voluntaries. You need to nail them all. If you mess up on one, it is hard to come back for the rest of them.”

Genevieve Cameron was ninth overall with a score of 304.10, while senior Sharin Adams was 16th with a 155.60.

Sullivan was coming off winning the Delta River League individual title earlier this week. She scored a 375.25 on Tuesday to claim the individual league diving title and earn All-DRL honors.

“It was interesting because I was not expecting to win,” said Sullivan. “It was a nice surprise to have my work pay off.”

St. Francis placed four in the top five, scoring points for the team in the overall team standings in the Delta River League Championships.

“We have a lot of us that dive year round so it helps when it comes to high school and being on the same team,” said Sullivan.

Sullivan earned the All-American cut with her score in the meet.

“It was one of my better meets because I qualified for All-American consideration,” said Sullivan.

The section trials will be held on Thursday, May 8 at McClatchy High School.

“There are a lot of good divers coming in so I am hoping to make top three and qualify for the section finals on Saturday,” said Sullivan.

The top eight divers advance to finals on Saturday.

“I want to continue to do my best and hopefully if not qualify come close,” said Autrey.
