Frosh Open Holy Hoops with Big Win
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Krysta Alvarez scored a team-high 12 points to lead St. Francis to a 44-14 win over Christian Brothers to start off a fun Holy Hoops trifecta of games Saturday.
“It feels great,” said Alvarez. “We had team work and the crowd was great so I have to give props to them and our coaches. It is awesome. We played as a team so it felt great.”
Alvarez scored baskets in all four quarters and had multiple baskets in both the first and fourth quarters as the Troubadours improved to 11-4 on the season. She added seven rebounds, three assists and two steals.
St. Francis held Christian Brothers to a single three-pointer and four free throws over the first three quarters. The Falcons added seven points in the fourth.
“I am not surprised because we work on defense every day,” said Alvarez. “We worked for it and it showed in the game.”
Gabi Lopez added 11 points, while Brynne Burrows scored nine points and had five rebounds. Natalie Chan chipped in six boards in the winning effort.
“It is going great and we are getting better every day,” said Alvarez. “Our coaches always ask if we have become a better basketball player today and I think we have.”
