Lacrosse Drops Season Opener to San Ramon Valley
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Sophomore Sarah Westover scored three goals but the St. Francis lacrosse team dropped its season opener 20-5 to San Ramon Valley Saturday at Mather Sports Complex.
“We have a lot of individual talent that is learning to work together to be successful this season,” said Head Coach Spenser Brown. “They are getting used to each other and they are on their way to syncing up.”
Westover scored twice and senior Colleen McClain scored as the Troubies fell behind 8-3.
“I feel like we need to play more as a unit especially on attack and midfield,” said Westover. “We have to have the mindset to trust the other player.”
The Wolves extended the advantage in the second half despite a third goal by Westover and fifth score by Ryleigh Bone.
“We need to take our frustration in a good way and know that we are capable of doing a lot of things and stay positive.”
St. Francis plays at Foothill on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
