Nine St. Francis Seniors Make College Commitments

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Nine St. Francis High School seniors signed a National Letter-of-Intent or made a commitment to play collegiate sports next year at schools across the country Wednesday. They were recognized on campus as part of the school’s formal fall signing day recognition.

The event was broadcast on the TroubieTV Network on PlayOn Sports.

Danika Bailey, Softball, California

Hometown: Sacramento, Calif.

Bailey, who plays for Sorcerer Softball club, hit .556 in limited action (6 games) with three triples and three runs batted in as a junior after batting .525 as a sophomore. Overall, she has hit .435 over her varsity career with 60 runs scored. After missing most of her junior season at St. Francis due to injury, she is excited to hit the field this spring for the Troubadours. She is three-year letter winner. Lauren Charter, Water Polo, California

Hometown: Sacramento, Calif.

Charter, who is a two-time USA Water Polo Academic All-American, leads the St. Francis team in goals (52) and points (72), while ranking third in assists (20) and steals (41). She says that her participation in the water polo program at St. Francis changed her life. Charter earned CIF Sac-Joaquin all-section first-team honors in 2013 after scoring 28 goals with 18 assists and 47 steals as a junior. She recently surpassed the 100-goal mark for her career against Acalanes in the Nor Cal Championships and has 106 after the first round of the Sac-Joaquin Section playoffs. Erin Crooks, Swimming, Lafayette

Hometown: Sacramento, Calif.

A three-year letter winner on the St. Francis swim team, Crooks finished second at the 2004 Delta River League meet in the 200-yard individual medley (2:14.74). She has a personal best of 2:12.00 in the event, while recording times of 2:08.8 in the 200 butterfly and 2:27 in the 200 breaststroke. She has also clocked a best of 1:08.27 in the 100 breast and 58.50 in the 100 fly. At the section meet last season, she finished sixth in the consolation final of the 100 fly (1:00.59). Crooks, who swam at the National Age-Group Swimming Association (NASA) Junior National Championship Cup in Clearwater, Fla. last year for the first time, was one of the team captains for the Delta River League champions last year. Anna Donald, Volleyball, UC Davis

Hometown: Sacramento, Calif.

Donald is a two-year letter winner for the St. Francis team. The Troubadours have won 62 games over the last two seasons, including a 34-9 record during her junior season in 2013. The Troubadours advanced to both the CIF State Volleyball Nor Cal and Sac-Joaquin Section Finals before losing to eventual state champion Granite Bay in each match. As a senior, she has recorded 169 kills, the third-best total on the team, while hitting 26.4 percent. She ranks second the team in total blocks, solos and assists. Parents: Leslie and Scott Donald.

Marissa Gollnick, Volleyball, Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology

Hometown: Elk Grove, Calif.

Gollnick is a two-year letter winner. She was named to the 2015 Mitty Invitational All-Tournament team. She has recorded 915 assists, the fourth-best total in Division I and 10th-best total in the state, for an 8.5 per set average, the second-best mark in the Delta League, through the regular season. She helped the team to advance to both the CIF State Volleyball Nor Cal and Sac-Joaquin Section Finals as a junior. She was named a commended student in the 2015 National Merit Scholarship Program. The honor was awarded to all the students that placed among the top five percent of more than 1.5 million students who entered the 2015 competition by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT). Kylie Green, Volleyball, UC Irvine

Hometown: Gold River, Calif.

Green led the Delta League with a 396 kills during the season while averaging 3.6 kills per set, the second-best mark in the league. She ranks seventh in Division I in kills (22nd in the state). She had 21 games of 10 or more kills. She saw action in 39 sets as a junior, helping the Troubadours to the Delta River League title and Sac-Joaquin Section and Nor Cal finals appearances. Her club team finished second in 2012 and third in 2013 USAV National Championships. Parents: Cindy and Michael Green.

Hayley Kusserow, Lacrosse, St. Mary’s

Hometown: Fair Oaks, Calif.

Kusserow has played on the varsity in each of her first three seasons at St. Francis. She led the team with 38 goals and 44 points as a freshman. She led the team in scoring as a junior with 58 goals and 60 points and was named the team’s Most Valuable Attacker. She scored in 17 of 18 games played and recorded two more goals in 15 games highlighted by a six-goal game against Oak Ridge. She works on her game year round with her club, 3d Lacrosse. She has helped lead the program to back-to-back North Coast Section playoff appearances and a 2013 Sacramento Lacrosse Conference title. Parents: Dr. Kurt and Jacque Kusserow.

Miranda Myers, Cross Country/Track & Field, Northern Arizona

Hometown: Carmichael, Calif.

Myers is a four-time all-league selection, while helping the St. Francis cross country team to three top 10 CIF state championships, including a second-place finish in 2012, two Sac-Joaquin Section titles and three league titles.  She finished 13th overall in 17:52 at the state meet in 2013, the third-fastest junior in the field. On the track, she has helped the Troubadours win back-to-back section titles. She holds the school record in the 3000m on the track, while ranking second all-time on the school charts in both the 1600m and 3200m.

Miranda Reyes, Crew, Portland

Hometown: Carmichael, Calif.

Reyes has competed four years as a coxswain for the Upper Natoma Rowing Club. She has competed in local races as well regional competitions in Oregon and San Diego. Parents: Dr. Norman and Judy Reyes.
