Ruggles, Hennessy and Arndt Post Wins at Glenn Poole
ROSEVILLE, Calif. – Senior Sam Ruggles won the shot put and discus and sophomore Elizabeth Hennessy took the 300m hurdles and Ariane Arndt won the 400 meters as St. Francis placed third at the Glenn Poole Invitational at Oakmont High School on Saturday.
Ruggles won the discus with a meet record and personal-best throw of 119-1, while winning the shot put in her signature event with a best mark of 37-2.5. Hennessy clocked a 46.92 to break the 47-second barrier for the second consecutive meet.
Arndt won the 400 meters in 57.60 to continue her outstanding season.
The Troubadours dominated the 3200 meters with Miranda Myers (11:24.77) and Chase Worthen (11:38.85) finishing second and third with teammates Amanda Larivee and Macee Tanaka recording personal-bests.
Other top 10 finishes for the team included Angelica Abdad placing seventh in the high jump at 4-8, Emma Kennedy ninth in the high jump at 4-6 and Benite Rutaganira was 10th in the long jump.
Lilly Enes has a season-best 12.88 in the 100 meters to cross fifth overall and the 4×400-meter relay (Hennessy, Katie Poggi, Meagan Rogers and Caitlin Hipol).
Overall, St. Francis had 10 top-10 finishes in the meet. The Troubadours compete at the Meet of Champions next weekend.
