Ruggles Sets School Record in the Shot Put

SACRAMENTO, Calif.  – Samantha Ruggles set a new school record in the shot put with a throw of 38-3.25 Wednesday at the dual meet at American River College, breaking the mark set by Amanda Helmer of 37-10 at the 2005 Gold River Invitational.

The Troubadours defeated Oak Ridge (95-41) and Folsom (105-22) in winning 14 of the 16 events in the meet.

Ruggles and Kayla OBrine were the top two finishers in the shot put, while O’Brine won the discus with a throw of 129-6. Sophomore Nicole Spring won the long jump with a season best leap of 16-6.25 and freshman Meaghan Rogers went 29-1.5 to win the triple jump.

Senior Amanda Schnabel swept the hurdle events, running 15.46 to cross the line first in the 100m hurdles and clocked 45.93 to win the 300m hurdles. Senior Madison Rawson also won two events, winning the 3200 meters in 11:08.37 and the 800 meters in a season-best 2:22.00.

Junior Miranda Myers captured the 1600 meters in a season-best 5:13.01.

Junior Sydney Hunter won the 100 meters in 12.86 ahead of sophomore Kiani Reyna (13.00), who won the 200 meters in 26.01. Sophomore Lillian Enes won the 400 meters in 58.89.

St. Francis also won both the 4×100-meter relay and 4×400.

The Troubadours are back in action at the Glenn Poole at Oakmont High School in Roseville at 9 a.m.
