SACRAMENTO, Calif. – In their final game, it was only fitting that the seniors led the way for the St. Francis softball team.

Amy Marks pitched a complete game and hit a home run and the four seniors combined for five hits, five runs and six RBI.

“I could not imagine a better way to end it,” said Marks following the game. “I was really glad our team was able to pull it together and win. My four years, it did not matter if we won or lost, but it definitely is better to go out with a positive ending.”

Third baseman Alexis Viramontes doubled home a pair of runs in the four-run first inning. Marks, who allowed three runs on six hits, singled home classmate Alejandra Garcia, who had doubled to start the inning, in the fourth to extend the lead to 5-2.

Marks then added a three-run home run in the sixth to seal the victory.

Garcia finished 1-for-3 with three runs scored, while Marks was 2-for-3 with 4 RBI. Viramontes and Left fielder Izzy Hill both went 1-for-3 in the contest.

“It was amazing,” said Hill. “I was very happy to play and I was estatic to get a base hit in my final game. I was so proud of Amy for her home run and pitching the whole season. We leaned on her. I am very happy for this ending to my softball career at St. Francis.”

St. Francis finished the season with a 13-11-1 overall record, including a 5-5 Delta River League record.
