SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Sophomore Mary Baccay went 3-for-3 with 2 RBI as St. Francis posted a 7-4 victory over Franklin on Wednesday.

“It feels good because it really brought up our confidence going into the rest of the season,” said Baccay.

St. Francis broke open a 2-2 game in the fourth with a five-run inning. Shelby Tevis and Lauren Washburn had RBI singles before Baccay singled to score Washburn. Akeylah Moses knocked in Hannah Willover and the Troubadours added a fifth run off a Wildcat error.

“I have been struggling a lot this season and my plan was just get on base and move the runners over,” said Baccay. “It was huge for team and scored a few runners.”

Jada Kanemasu came out of the bullpen to close out a rally in the second and hung three zeros on the board in the 4-6 innings as St. Francis (3-6) took a five run lead into the final inning. Franklin rallied for two runs before St. Francis closed out the game.

“Jada has always been a good relief pitcher and starter for us,” said Baccay. “Her confidence brings up the team.”

Mel Baccay and Washburn each had two hits in the game and Tevis finished 1-for-3 with two RBI.

St. Francis will play in the Victory Tournament on Thursday and Saturday with a league game sandwiched in on Friday against Monterey Trail.
