Softball Falls at Ponderosa 4-3
SHINGLE SPRINGS, Calif. – St. Francis had the bases loaded with no outs in the sixth inning but managed just a single run as Ponderosa held on for a 4-3 victory Tuesday.
The Troubadours opened the game with two runs in the first inning on a two-run home run by Alejandra Garcia, who went 2-for-2 with two walks in the game. The Bruins responded with three runs in the bottom of the inning off Amy Marks, who allowed four runs on six hits.
Ponderosa extended the lead to 4-2 in the third before St. Francis rallied in the sixth. Opening with a walk to Garcia, Alexis Viramontes, Akeylah Moses and Emily Ainsley posted three consecutive singles to cut the deficit to one. But the Bruins stopped the rally with Terra Jerpbak getting out of the jam with a popup, strikeout and fly out to end the winning.
St. Francis fell to 9-9 on the season. The Troubadours host Folsom on Wednesday. The game will feature a pregame ceremony to honor head coach Al LoGiudice, who is celebrating his 25th season coaching the St. Francis program. There will be hosted BBQ and drinks available.
