Track and Field Opens in Rain-Soaked Holy Spikes

CARMICHAEL, Calif. – Despite the rainy conditions, the St. Francis track and field team competed in its first dual meet of the season against Christian Brothers in the renewal of the Holy Spikes matchup.

St. Francis won all six individual races and tied for first in the 1×100m relay. Senior Kiani Reyna clocked the fastest time in the 100m (13.32), while Lily Enes won the 400 in 1:00.72. Sophomore Sydney Vandegrift doubled with wins in the 800 and 1600m, posting times of 2:27.18 and 5:15.40. Junior Elizabeth Hennessy was first in the 100m hurdles (17.23). Sam Carrothers had the top mark in the discus with a throw of 65-3 to finish third.

St. Francis begins Delta League competition this week with a home meet against Monterey Trail and Grant on Wednesday. Om Friday, the distance crew will compete at the Bronco Roundup Distance Carnival and the sprinters and jumpers will be at the Husky Invitational on Saturday.
