SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Defending Sac-Joaquin Section champion St. Francis garnered the No. 2 seed in the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Championship volleyball bracket released Wednesday, earning the right to host up to three section playoff games.

“Our goal at the beginning of the season was to be able to play at home through the playoffs,” said Head Coach Alynn Wright. “Having the home fans and being in a familiar place makes it easier. Not that it will be easier. We are excited.”

St. Francis will host the Thursday play-in winner of No. 15 Merced and No. 18 West on Tuesday, Nov. 12 at 7 p.m. at the St. Francis Gymnasium. The winner will play the Rodriguez/Nevada Union winner on Thursday, Nov. 14.

“It is a tough bracket all the way down in Division I,” said Wright. “We played Rodriguez last season in the section rounds and they were a very scrappy and determined young team. Nevada Union will have their hands full with them.”

The semifinals will be hosted at campus sites on Nov. 19 before the finals on Thursday, Nov. 21 at UC Davis.

St. Francis has won the last two Sac-Joaquin Section Division I titles, winning eight consecutive games in section postseason play.

Ticket prices are $7 for adults, $5 for students and children 5 and under are free.
