Volleyball Rolls Past Rodriguez; Hakim Records Most Digs since 2004
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – St. Francis advanced to the Sac-Joaquin Section semifinals with a straight set (25-14, 25-18, 25-18) win over Rodriguez Thursday night.
“I thought we played tremendous,” said Head Coach Alynn Wright. “It was a great team win. I thought everyone played really well.”
Anna Baytosh had 10 kills and setter Ali Koumelis tallied 28 assists. Noa Nightingale had nine kills and Megan Sullivan added seven kills.
“We were firing on all cylinders,” said Wright. “Every single one of them was on. The work in practice is paying off.”
Wright singled out senior Lea Felton, one of seven Troubadours who signed to play collegiately next season. She will play at Hawaii Pacific. Felton finished with nine kills and two blocks.
“I was exceptionally proud of Lea Felton,” said Wright. “I thought she did a great job handling the transition.”
Rodriguez finished the season 22-9, while St Francis improved to 31-7.
“They are a very young team but there is talent and Herb is a good coach,” said Wright. “They are going to be very strong next year.”
Senior Chloe Hakim posted 18 digs in the match, the most single season digs since records have been kept (2004). She entered the match with 480 on the season and now has 498 to surpass Dana Vestman (484), who tallied the total during the 2011 season.

St. Francis will host St. Mary’s, a 3-0 winner over Lincoln, in the semifinals on Tuesday, Nov. 19. The match will be played at 7 p.m.
