Psychology

With over 25 years of experience, Amy Dotters-French serves as a School Psychologist, Licensed Educational Psychologist within the Elk Grove Unified School District. Throughout her career, she has demonstrated expertise in conducting comprehensive psycho-educational assessments for students referred for Special Education eligibility and services, ranging in age from 3 to adult. In addition, Ms. Dotters-French provides consultative services aimed at promoting student learning and development.

Ms. Dotters-French is also skilled in delivering Educationally Related Mental Health Counseling services, along with crisis intervention support for students, school personnel, and families. Prior to her career as a School Psychologist, she provided school play based counseling and Sand Tray Therapy.   

Before joining Elk Grove Unified, Ms. Dotters-French built a diverse career spanning several sectors, including education, law enforcement, and healthcare. Her experience as a Placer County Social Worker, where she was assigned to a teen pregnancy prevention grant, provided her with invaluable insight into adolescent development and family dynamics. She further broadened her expertise as a Probation Assistant, working in the units with detained adolescents pending court or sentencing at Sacramento County Juvenile Hall.  Additionally, she worked at Planned Parenthood’s prenatal program, offering pregnancy, postpartum, and infant support, along with health education services.

Ms. Dotters-French holds a Master of Science in School Psychology, a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology, and a Bachelor of Arts in Family Life Education.
