How to Register for Freshman Courses
We are excited to have you join our St. Francis family! The
Counseling Department consists of three academic counselors, two
college advisors, an administrative assistant, and the
registrar. As a team, we help you choose classes, maintain
balance, navigate the college process, and support you throughout
your high school years. We meet with you every year and
have Advisories to present important information.
Freshman course registration will take place March 17-21,
2025. Please follow these steps to register for your
classes:
- Watch the Freshman Course Registration Video
- Review the Course Registration FAQs
- Read the course descriptions in the SFHS Course Catalog
- Complete the Class of 2029 Freshman Worksheet
- Check your email on March 14, 2025 for Troubiemail login credentials, which you’ll need to access PowerSchool
- Log in to PowerSchool between March 17th and 19th to become familiar with the course registration process
- Attend Freshman Welcome Night on March 19th and talk with faculty andmembers of the Counseling Department about any questions you have regarding course placement or choosing courses for freshman year
- Submit your course requests in PowerSchool by the end of the day on Friday, March 21st (see PowerSchool tutorial section in the video)
Challenge Tests
St. Francis offers incoming freshmen optional challenge
tests in Math and Foreign Languages. Freshmen wishing to take
Algebra 1 or a first-year Language class do NOT need to
take a challenge test.
Challenge Test dates and times
The optional challenge tests are held Saturday, March 8,
2025 from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. Language tests are held from
9:00 am to 10:00 am and Math tests begin at 10:15 am.
A makeup day for Challenge Tests is held Tuesday, March 11, 2025 from 3:30 to 5:00 pm.

MATH
Freshman Math Options and Pathways
If you wish to take Algebra 1 as a freshman, no math testing is necessary. Nearly half of the freshman class will take Algebra 1 in their freshman year.
If you are currently taking Algebra 1 and would like to take Geometry as a freshman, you will need to take the Geometry challenge test. The Geometry challenge test is sixty minutes long and calculators are not permitted. Geometry Challenge Test List of Topics 2025
If you are currently taking Integrated Math 1, you will need to take the Integrated Math 2 challenge test. The Integrated Math 2 challenge test is sixty minutes long and calculators are not permitted. Integrated Math 2 Challenge Test List of Topics 2025
If you are currently taking Geometry or Integrated Math 2 and would like to take Algebra 2 as a freshman, you will need to take the Algebra 2 challenge test. The Algebra 2 challenge test is ninety minutes long and calculators are permitted. Algebra 2 Challenge Test List of Topics 2025

Class of 2029 Welcome Night: March 19, 2025
Freshman Welcome Night is a fun and engaging evening for our new Troubies and their families to get to know each other, learn all about academic and extracurricular opportunities, and be welcomed into the St. Francis family.
Schedule:
4:30 pm – 5:55 pm ( Lower Serra Court, Dining Hall and Gym Foyer)
- Dad’s Club is hosting a BBQ in lower Serra Court
- The Troubie Store will be open for uniform sizing and purchasing logo items
- Parents can meet representatives of SFHS Dad’s Club, Patrons of the Arts, Boosters Club, Grandparents Club, Black Parents Club, and Parents Guild
- Our new Troubies can meet with our Counseling department to discuss their freshman year course requests

Freshman Class Council
Class of 2029, join the Freshman Student Council! Selection is based on interviews and group team building activities held with a panel of St. Francis staff and students representing the Associated Student Body at SFHS. Positions include President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, Spirit Coordinator, Historian, Ministry Coordinator, and Equity Coordinator.
If you are interested in interviewing for a Freshman Student Council position, please complete the application and return it to Cassy McGreevy, Director of Student Activities, by May 2, 2025. All instructions and details are provided in the application. Please use your assigned SFHS email address as that is how you will be communicated with during the recruitment process.
Timeline for Freshman Student Council selection 2025-2026:
March 19, 2025: Class of 2029 Class Council application opens
May 2, 2025: All Freshman Student Council Applications, Google Slide presentations, and recommendations are due no later than 9:00 am. Recommendations and Google Slide presentations may be emailed to cmcgreevy@stfrancishs.org.
Monday, May 19, 2025, 4:00 – 6:00 pm or Wednesday, May 28, 2025, 4:00-6:00 pm: Interviews for Freshman Class Council candidates will be held. You will select the day that works best for you when you submit your application. No alternative interview dates are available.
