Welcome to our New Registrar!
Melissa Thompson is SFHS’s new Registrar. She is a Troubie parent (her daughter is a Vanellope in the Class of 2025) and she is thrilled to be part of the St. Francis community. Her office is located in the Counseling and College Center.

Class Level Parent Nights & Junior Parent College Night – Wednesday, January 22

Parents of Freshmen and Sophomores are invited to join us for in-person parent night presentations. We will discuss course availability, prerequisites, and the course registration process. We will also cover course pathways, honors and AP courses, and college information.

January and February Advisories

All grade levels (except Seniors) have at least one mandatory advisory session in January and Juniors also have an additional advisory session in February. All advisory sessions are held from 8:00 – 9:00am in the Dining Hall. Dates are listed below. Attendance will be taken.

Freshman Advisory – Wednesday, January 15
Sophomore Advisory – Tuesday, January 21
Junior Advisory – Thursday, January 23
Junior Advisory – Wednesday, February 26

Course Registration

Course Registration will take place in March, however, students will learn about the course registration process during their mandatory advisories. Students can also prepare by reading the 2025-2026 Course Catalog.

Many honors and AP courses will have information meetings that students must attend. Some meetings start today, Tuesday, January 7. Please see Mrs. Moloney’s email dated December 20 for more information, and double check the Honors/AP/Audition google sheet for the dates and times of interest meetings.

Summer Course Offerings

Summer course offerings will be posted on the St. Francis website in early February. Students may also take summer school courses at Jesuit and Christian Brothers but must have approval from their SFHS Counselor.

Individual Meetings with Counselors

This semester, Class Counselors will be meeting with students individually to review their course requests for next year, talk about extracurricular involvement and time management, and discuss Naviance and college information. Meetings will be conducted through the end of March.

Juniors – Create a Testing Plan for SAT and/or ACT

Jessies should determine if they will need or want a standardized test score for their upcoming college application process. SAT and ACT spots on National Test Days (Saturdays) are hard to come by, as many schools no longer serve as test sites for National Test Days. Juniors should take advantage of the upcoming School Day SAT and School Day ACT, as well as the practice tests offered by Revolution Prep. Ms. Austin & Ms. Lee, SFHS’s College Advisors, will be presenting a Just for Juniors workshop on Testing at lunchtime on Monday, January 27 and then they will host drop-in Q&A about testing and creating a testing plan every day at lunch during the week of January 28 – 31 in the Counseling & College Center.

Virtual Practice SAT and ACT for Juniors

Revolution Prep will host a virtual digital SAT practice exam on Saturday, February 1 and a virtual practice ACT on Saturday, February 8. These practice exams are optional, but highly recommended. See details below:

School Day SAT and ACT for Juniors

SFHS will hold an optional School Day SAT for the Class of 2026 on Wednesday, March 26, 2025. Juniors who choose to take the SAT will miss their E and F block classes, and they must attend a mandatory pre-administration session on Thursday, March 20 during late start (8:00 – 9:00am). Juniors will receive a detailed email from Counseling in the next few days with more details and information on signing up.

A School Day ACT will be offered on April 8. More details to follow.

College Planning Meetings for Juniors

This semester, every student in the Class of 2026 will be scheduled for an initial College Planning Meeting with their College Advisor. College Advisor assignments are as follows:

Students with last names A – K : Ms. Debbie Austin
Students with last names L – Z : Ms. Naomi Lee

Ms. Austin and Ms. Lee will communicate with their students via email to set up individual College Planning Meetings.

Mid-Year Transcripts for Seniors

We will be uploading mid-year transcripts (which include grades from the first semester of senior year) to Common Application accounts for colleges to access. Students do not need to make a special request — we will take care of this. If a senior has any non-Common App schools that require a mid-year transcript, they should complete the Senior Transcript Request google form that Mrs. Rivera will email on January 16th.

Naviance Data Collection – Seniors Enter Colleges into Naviance

Seniors’ Naviance accounts should be updated with all of the colleges to which they have applied, and seniors should update their admission results in Naviance as they receive responses from colleges and universities. After May 1, we will ask seniors to select their final college or university of choice in Naviance, and that is where the final transcript will be sent.
