Soccer Opens Delta League with Win
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Sophomore Lindsey Porter had a hat trick as six players scored in the Delta League opening 8-1 win over Grant.
Sophomore Elise Urkov scored the first goal of the game in the first minute off an assist by Abby Padilla. Padilla then assisted Porter on the first of her three goals. Freshman Marli Berry (Urkov), sophomore Anna Huber (Blakeman) and sophomore Janae DeFazio (Huber) each scored in the half as the Troubadours led 5-0.
Porter scored twice in the second half off assists by Julia Boston and A.J. Tanner and Boston scored her first goal of the season off an Alyssa Shebert assist for the final margin.
Kaitlyn Hendrickson, Jess Ponik and Rachel Huber combined for the win in goal.
St. Francis plays its first Delta League home game on Thursday against Pleasant Grove. Game time is set for 3:30 p.m. at Granite Regional Park. The JV Gold team opens play at 2 p.m.
