SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Seniors Kate Swanson and Mikia Fang both shot eight-over par rounds of 80 to finish second and help St. Francis to the team win at the third Delta League Center match at Haggin Oaks Arcade course on Monday.

“The team did a great job all year,” said Head Coach Cindy Mah-Lyford. “I had the perfect coaching job this year because I had so many girls that were close in ability. It kept them competitive to gain a position in the starting lineup.”

Swanson and Fang tied for second overall behind medalist Marie Sean of Davis, who posted a three-over par round of 75.

“It feels really good,” said Swanson. “I was really impressed with how the team did. We are a really tight team, the scores are super close. It is amazing to watch and it is really fun.”

The Troubadours posted a consistent round with its top five within five strokes and among the top eight in the field. St. Francis posted a 411 team score to defeat Pleasant Grove, Elk Grove and Davis in the team standings.

Freshman Olivia Alcoran shot an 82 to tie for fourth overall, while sophomore Chase Saca was sixth with an 84. Freshman Patricia Sweeney recorded an 85.

The win completed an undefeated season for the Troubadours in league play, claiming all three center matches and a perfect dual match record to qualify for the Sac-Joaquin Section Championships.

Swanson joined freshmen Alcoran and Sweeney on the all-league team by virtue of the scores throughout the season.  Swanson earned all-league for the third time in her career.

“They have impressed me so much,” said Swanson of her freshmen teammates. “I am super excited for the future seasons they will have.”

St. Francis will compete in the Division I North Section Championships next Monday at Silverado Country Club in Napa. The Troubies have won the Division I North title in eight of the last nine seasons.
