SACRAMENTO, Calif. – St. Francis senior Anna Huber will continue her soccer career at Wheaton College in Massachusetts next fall.

“I really like the town,” said Huber of the Norton, Mass., campus outside Boston. “I was looking for a small-town college feel. When I went on my overnight, it had that small-town, college feel.”

Huber will play for Head Coach Bobby Desilets. He led the team to the NEWMAC semifinals in his first season as the Lyons posted a 15-3-1 overall record. The Lyons compete in the NCAA Division III.

“I loved the coaches and girls,” said Huber. “They are a tight-knit group and hang out with each other.”

Huber was a four-year player for the program, earning a pair of varsity letters. She scored four goals and totaled 12 points in 37 career varsity appearances. Overall, she scored 29 career goals for St. Francis including 16 goals as a freshman and seven on the junior varsity team as a sophomore.

“’It meant a lot because I have been able to meet life-long friends and play with my sister,” said Huber of playing for her school. “We don’t play club together and it was one thing that brought us together.”

Huber joined her twin sister, Rachel, in the soccer program throughout their time on campus.

“It has been meaningful because I have had another person to lean on and someone who knows what you are going through who can be there for you,” said Huber.

Huber, who lists winning the Woodland Tournament as a freshman as one her career highlights, hopes to study animal sciences in college. She scored five goals in that career-opening tournament. She also recorded a hat trick against Rio Americano later that season.

Huber will join eight classmates at the St. Francis Signing Day Celebration on Wednesday, April 11 at 8:30 a.m.
