SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Defending Sac-Joaquin Section champion St. Francis will enter next week’s playoffs as the fifth overall seed and will host No. 12 Woodcreek on Tuesday, May 5 in a first-round game at 4 p.m. Tickets are $6 for adults, $4 for K-12 and children 5 and under are free.

The Troubadours finished third in the Delta League with a 10-2-2 and posted a 16-2-2 overall mark in the regular season under Head Coach Maryclaire Robinson. St. Francis won the Cal Spring Classic in February as part of six consecutive wins to start the season.

Senior Anna Gregg leads the team with a league best 29 goals (10th in the Section) and 66 assists (Tied for 13th).

Delta League rivals Davis and Franklin are the top two seeds in the bracket, while Gregori is No. 3 and Armijo is No. 4. St. Francis lost to Davis on the road and tied the Blue Devils at home, while splitting two games with Franklin.

The Troubies would travel to Armijo, a rematch of a 2014 first-round game, if both teams win their respective opening games on Thursday, May 7. The semifinals will be played on May 13 and the finals on May 16.

St. Francis won their 13th section title in school history and first since 2010 with a 1-0 win over Oak Ridge in 2014. The Troubadours finished a 21-3-5 season with a postseason run that included wins over Armijo (4-2), Enochs (5-4), Granite Bay (1-0) and Oak Ridge (1-0) in the SJS playoffs.

Woodcreek was third in the Sierra Foothill League standings with 6-2-4 record and recorded an 11-2-4 overall record entering the playoffs. The Timberwolves are ranked No. 14 in the state according to MaxPreps.
