St. Francis Soccer to Meet Oak Ridge in Section Finals

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The No. 4 seed St. Francis soccer team will play No. 3 seed Oak Ridge in the Sac-Joaquin Section final on Saturday at 4 p.m. at Cosumnes Oaks High School in Elk Grove.
Oak Ridge defeated Franklin in penalty kicks after the game was tied 1-1 Wednesday afternoon.
The game will be the fourth meeting between the Delta River League rivals. St. Francis went 2-0-1 against the Trojans this season. The Troubadours posted a 2-0 win in the Christian Brothers Tournament on March 14. In league play, the first game at St. Francis ended in a 1-1 tie on April 8 and the Troubadours posted a 2-1 win in the regular season finale at Oak Ridge.
The Troubadours are playing in their first section final since 2011, a 1-0 loss to Davis. St. Francis has been eliminated by Franklin in each of the last two seasons, including a second-round loss in 2012 and semifinal loss in 2013.
St. Francis (20-3-5) has won 12 section titles in school history, winning titles in 1981, 1994, 1995, 2000, 2001, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2009 and most recently in 2010.
