SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The St. Francis tennis team advanced to the Sac-Joaquin Section quarterfinals with a 9-0 win over Vacaville at Rio del Oro Racquet Club. The Troubadours will host Del Oro on Monday, Nov. 9. Del Oro posted a 8-1 win over Enochs.

“We were solid all the way through,” said Head Coach Kristi Spector. “It was windy today so the girls had to keep their feet moving. I wanted them to play their match their own way.”

St. Francis swept all six singles matches, dropping just seven games over 12 sets.

“It feels good especially to get the scores that we got gives us some confidence going into the next match,” said senior Avery Spector.

Spector posted a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles over Sonal Pheran. Kiya Jackson, Kyla Jackson, Marisa Fat, Annie Gianulias and Abby Benvenuti were all singles winners in straight sets.

The SF doubles also cruised with straight set wins. Myra Anwar and Macy Wood combined to win at No. doubles, while Sabrina Voeller and Cameron Parra were 6-0, 6-0 winners at No. 2. Eden Elliott and Megan Khan had to work for a 7-5, 6-2 win at No. 3 doubles.

Spector and Jackson sisters will participate in the Sac-Joaquin section individual playoffs at Johnson Ranch Racquet Club in Roseville starting at Noon on Thursday.

“My goal is going to get to the semifinals,” said Spector, who was named the Delta League MVP. “I have never made it that far. There are some really good girls there.”

St. Francis will be the host for the second consecutive match against Del Oro.

“They are a strong team with good singles and doubles,” said Coach Spector. “It will be a great match. I am really excited to play them.”

Match time will start at 2 p.m. at Rio del Oro Racquet Club.

“Being able to get the top seed from our league and stay home potentially to the finals is huge,” said Spector. “Last year we were all over the place and this year we are at home to have the support of teachers and students.”
