Tennis Completes First Half of League Slate with 9-0 Win
ELK GROVE, Calif. – The St. Francis tennis team completed the first half of the Delta League schedule with a 9-0 win over Monterey Trail, improving to 5-1 in league play and 8-1 on the season.
The Troubadours got singles wins from Sabrina Voeller and Cameron Parra at No. 5 and 6 singles, respectively. Senior Avery Spector and sophomores Kiya Jackson, Kyla Jackson and Marisa Fat were also winners in straight sets.
The Troubies swept doubles with three new partners. Myra Anwar and Abby Benvenuti paired at No. 1 doubles for a 6-0, 6-0 win, while Stephanie Fong and Sarah Morris were nearly as impressive with a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 2.
Julia Lucic and Carmen Ocazionez played together for the first time, posting a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 3 doubles to complete the sweep.
St. Francis hosts McClatchy next Tuesday before traveling to Pleasant Grove to begin the second half of the league schedule.
