Tennis Season Ends with 6-3 Loss to Rocklin
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The St. Francis tennis teams lost in the Sac-Joaquin Section semifinals to Rocklin 6-3 Wednesday, ending their bid for the first section title since 2011.
“The girls played as hard as they could,” said Head Coach Kristi Spector. “After the win emotional yesterday, it was tough to turn around and do it again. Rocklin played a great match. Everyone fought their hardest and I am really proud of the team.”
Rocklin won five of the six singles matches. Sophomore Kyla Jackson was the lone Troubadour to post a win in singles. St. Francis won two of the three doubles matches but the five wins by the Thunder in singles clinched the match.
Sabrina Voeller and Cameron Parra, who posted a clutch win on Tuesday, won again in the semifinals with a three-set win. The No. 1 doubles team of Myra Anwar and Macy Wood also posted a victory in the match.
“We had so many positive things this season including the league title, the top seed in our league and the league MVP,” said Spector. “We were a better team all around this year. At some point it is going to end and today was our day.”
St. Francis went 15-2 on the season, tying for the Delta League title.
