Golf Finishes Dual Season Undefeated

ELK GROVE, Calif. – Freshman Ceci Fletcher shot a season-best  five-over par 38 to lead St. Francis to a 198 team score on Wednesday as the Troubadours defeated Franklin by forfeit. The match was played on Emerald Lakes.

St. Francis improved to 7-0 in dual match play, running their league dual match win streak to 19 over the last three seasons. The Troubadours last lost on dual to Davis on Sept. 17, 2014.

Junior Lauren Allen Shoots Career-Best 77

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Junior Lauren Allen shot a career-best 77 for 18 holes to lead St. Francis to a win in the second Delta League Center. The Troubadours posted a 408 team score to defeat the three other schools fielding full teams.

Allen posted a five-over par 77 to lead the team. Sophomore Olivia Alcoran and Patricia Sweeney each posted rounds of 81 followed by freshman Nashla Aguero with an 84. Freshman Ceci Fletcher carded an 85 and Lauren Liberatore recorded a 90.

Golf Continues Strong Play Behind 35 by Sweeney

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Sophomore Patricia Sweeney shot a career-best one-under par 35 to help St. Francis post a 196 to record a dual match victory over Sheldon Wednesday.

“I had a pretty good round,” said Sweeney. “I struggled with a few of my drives but I was able to get on the green and putt. I had only 13 putts on the day, one of my best putting days.”

Sweeney’s round included seven pars, two birdies and one bogey.

Golf Shoots Season-Best Again, Defeats Grant

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Junior Chase Saca shot a one-over par 37 to lead the St. Francis golf team in a dual match win over Grant on Wednesday.

“We did very good as a team,” said freshman Nashla Aguero, who posted the second-best score on the day. “I am very a happy about that.”

Saca had the low score on the day, posting her best high school score by three strokes for nine holes, with Aguero one shot back with a two-over par 38, the low round of her freshman year.

“I hit a lot of great shots and made a lot of putts,” said Aguero. “I am very happy.”

Golf Shoots a Season-best 200 in Elk Grove Match

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The St. Francis golf team posted a season-best 200 in its match against Elk Grove on Tuesday. The Troubadours won by forfeit as the Thundering Herd fielded only four players.

Sophomore Olivia Alcoran shot an even-par 36 to tie for the low round of the day with Elk Grove’s Jillian Knox. Classmate Patricia Sweeney was just two strokes back after carding a 38. Junior Chase Saca posted a 41 and freshman Ceci Fletcher record a 42. Nashla Aguero shot a 43 and junior Lauren Liberatore had a 44.

St. Francis hosts Grant on Wednesday.

Golf Wins Third Straight Dual

DAVIS, Calif. – The St. Francis golf team posted a 218 team score to defeat Davis Tuesday afternoon at El Macero CC. St. Francis posted six of the top eight scores in the match led by sophomore Olivia Alcoran. Davis shot a 258.

“Olivia was positioning the ball well on a very tough course with a lot of tucked pins,” said Head Coach Bert Jones.

Alcoran was the medalist for the match with a two-over par 38, one better than Davis’ Marie Dean, who posted a 39.

Golf Defeats Pleasant Grove in Dual

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Freshman Nashla Aguero shot a three-over 39 to tie for the low score for the team and help the team to a victory over Pleasant Grove in a Delta League dual match Wednesday at Haggin Oaks Arden Arcade court.

Aguero tied Sadia Sadiq of Pleasant Grove for the low round of the day.

St. Francis (2-0) remained undefeated in dual play with the nine-stroke victory. Sophomore Olivia Alcoran posted a 41, tying for third overall. Junior Lauren Allen recorded a 42.

Golf Opens Delta League Play

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Sophomores Olivia Alcoran and Patricia Sweeney each carded a three-over par 39 to lead the St. Francis golf team to a win over Monterey Trail Wednesday at the Haggin Oaks Golf Complex. The Troubadours posted a 203 team score but won the match by forfeit.

“It was pretty good for the first round,” said Alcoran. “I was doing really well with my putting and chipping and everything clicked today.”

Golfer Alcoran Selected to Play in The First Tee Par-3 Championship

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – Rising sophomore Olivia Alcoran was selected to play in the 2016 The First Tee Par-3 Championship at The Kanawha Club in Richmond, Va., June 21-26.

“I think it is a really cool honor,” said Alcoran. “It is a national honor and I am looking forward to meeting other players from around the country. I will be able to bring back some information on the rules presentations, speakers and leadership opportunities to the chapter.”

Golfer Sweeney Named a Succeeding Together Finalist

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – St. Francis freshman Patricia Sweeney was named one of 10 Succeeding Together finalists and has a chance earn a $1000 prize for the First Tee of Greater Sacramento and a chance to play in the pro-am of the Wells Fargo Championship.

“I am excited about,” said Sweeney. “When I applied, I wrote the essays and was not expecting too much since I am a freshman and a lot of the entrants were older.”

2015 Golf Highlights

  • St. Francis finished fourth at the Sac-Joaquin Section Masters Tournament. The Troubadours shot a 459 team score to tie with Vista del Lago for fourth place overall. Granite Bay was the top qualifier with a 406 followed by Oak Ridge at 422 and Rocklin at 450. Seniors Kristi Lee and Mikia Fang led the team with identical rounds of 15-over par 87.

Golf Finishes Fourth at Masters


STOCKTON, Calif. – The St. Francis golf team finished tied for fourth at the Sac-Joaquin Masters tournament at the Reserve at Spanos Park, missing qualifying for the NorCal Championships by 10 strokes.

“It was a fun team to be with because everyone contributed,” said Head Coach Cindy Mah-Lyford. “It was not just the top five. This team, this year you never knew who was going to make the matches in the qualifying. It made everyone feel they were part of the team.”

Golf Advances to Sac-Joaquin Section Master’s

NAPA, Calif. – Starting in foggy and wet conditions, the St. Francis golf team persevered to place fourth at the Sac-Joaquin Section Division I North tournament to advance to the next round of the postseason.

Senior Kate Swanson led the Troubadours with a round of 88. She was one of three seniors in the lineup that will play again next week.

“It was very important to advance,” said Swanson. “I was a little nervous but we pulled it together. It is exciting. We are going to keep going.”
