Track Posts Top Early Performances at Holy Spikes
CARMICHAEL, Calif. – The St. Francis track and field team swept the running events and took the high and long jump and pole vault events before darkness ended the annual Holy Spikes meet with Christian Brothers and Cristo Rey at the Jesuit track Wednesday.
Swimming defeats Pleasant Grove in Delta Dual
CARMICHAEL, Calif. – St. Francis won nine of 11 events to post a 127-43 victory over Pleasant Grove on Wednesday to improve to 2-0 on the Delta League dual season.
Senior Elizabeth Fugit won the 100 backstroke and helped the 200 medley and 400 free relays post victories. Emma Peters won the 200-yard freestyle in 2:02.54, while senior Taylor Koewler won the 200 IM in 2:15.62. Senior Tatum Roepke won the 100 butterfly in 59.67 and freshman Kendall Houck captured the 500 free in 5:25.70.Freshman Emma Hollenback won the 100 breaststroke in 1:10.77.
Basketball Upsets James Logan, Advances in State Tournament
UNION CITY, Calif. – Senior Julia Razo had a game-high 24 points to lead the No. 11 seed St. Francis to an 81-52 upset over No. 6 James Logan in the first round of the CIF Division I NorCal Championships Wednesday night. St. Francis (22-8) is the defending CIF Division I champions.
“We showed a lot of heart,” said Head Coach Vic Pitton. “We went in with the right attitude. We have been on the road before. I was impressed but it did not surprise me.”
Divers Compete against Pleasant Grove
RIO LINDA, Calif – Junior Molly Wilson posted a season-best 266.05 against Pleasant Grove as nine of 12 divers had season-best performances against the Eagles.
Wilson scored a 266.05 to lead the team. Junior Julia Endicott was second overall with 180.15, while freshman Maddy Miles was third on the team with a score of 144.05.Maddie Covert was fourth 126.40.

Lacrosse Completes Bay Area Sweep
MENLO, Calif. – The St. Francis lacrosse team continued its early season momentum with a 12-9 win over Menlo-Atherton on Saturday to complete the two-game overnight trip to the Bay Area.
“We knew coming in we were going to be tired,” said Head Coach Julia Southard. “Our leadership group is an incredible force on our team and they knew what they needed to do to get the job done. Our seniors carried us on a tough day.”
St. Francis fell behind early 4-1 in the first half but rallied to score seven unanswered goals.
Lacrosse Wins Battle of St. Francis
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. – Sophomore Jade Borg and senior Sarah Westover combined for nine goals to lead the St. Francis lacrosse team to a 13-4 win over St. Francis Mountain View Friday night in the first game of two-day trip to the Bay Area.
Lacrosse Opens with 11-8 Win
RANCHO CORDOVA, Calif. – Senior Grace Passentino scored four times as St. Francis posted an 11-8 win over Justin Siena in the season opening match on Thursday. Senior Sarah Westover added three goals in the win. The Troubies also got goals from Rachel Wick, Juliette Vielhauer, Emily Bush and Jade Borg. The Troubadours travel to St. Francis Mountain View on Friday.

Basketball Falls to Oak Ridge in Section Quarterfinals
EL DORADO HILLS, Calif. – The St. Francis basketball team lost at Oak Ridge 65-48 Thursday in the Sac-Joaquin Section quarterfinals.
“I am absolutely extremely proud of all of them,” said Head Coach Vic Pitton. “They gave everything they had in a very adverse situation. They really responded well in the first quarter and they played hard the whole game.”
Seniors Julia Razo and Jane Fairbrook combined to score 30 points in the game led by the game-high 21 points by Razo. Fairbrook scored nine and led the team in rebounds.

Spring Sports start continue play this week. Lacrosse hosts Cardinal Newman on March 7 and travels to Vista del Lago. Softball hosts Casa Robles on March 7 before playing the Victory Tournament. Swimmong and Diving hosts Pleasant Grove on March 8 and Track and Field hosts Christian Brothers on March 8 for Holy Spikes.. Soccer Seeded Sixth in Division I
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The St. Francis soccer team is seeded sixth in the Sac-Joaquin Section Division I bracket released Friday afternoon.
“We are working really hard in practice,” said senior Arianna Avila. “It is what makes us a good team because we push each other to the max so during the playoffs it will payoff.”
The Troubadours hope the payoff will be a long playoff run. SF will open at home (Granite Regional Park) on Wednesday, Feb. 22 at 3 p.m. against Modesto. The Panthers are 13-3-3 on the season with a 9-1-2 league mark in the Modesto Metro Conference.
Soccer Preps for Playoffs with 6-0 Win
Seven Seniors Recognized Pregame
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The St. Francis soccer team sent out their seniors with a 6-0 win over Monterey Trail Thursday in the final regular season tune-up for the Sac-Joaquin Section playoffs.
“I am very pleased,” said Head Coach Maryclaire Robinson. “We came out and were professional. My concern was focus. Senior Day is always an emotional, heart-felt event. For us to be able to share in that and tuck a few away early on changes the game.”
Basketball Seeded Sixth in the Sac-Joaquin Section Bracket
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The St. Francis basketball team was awarded a No. 6 seed in the Sac-Joaquin Section playoff bracket announced on Thursday.
The Troubadours defeated Grant on Wednesday 71-32 to claim the Delta League Championship title. The Troubadours improved to 13-1 overall in league play and garnered the No. 1 seed from the league. It is the second consecutive league title for the team and 15th overall in school history.

Soccer Wins Late vs. Franklin 3-2
ELK GROVE Calif. – Sophomore Janae DeFazio scored the game winner in extra time to give St. Francis a 3-2 win over Franklin on Tuesday.
Savannah Tijerino-Santos scored in the fourth minute to give the Troubadours a 1-0 lead. The assist came off passes from Elise Urkov pass and Janae DeFazio, who connected with Santos.
Franklin tied the game on a penalty kick in the 32nd minute and took the lead half way into the second half on a second PK.
Basketball Celebrates Seniors with Win
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Seniors Julia Razo and Janae Fairbrook led St. Francis to a 74-32 win over Sheldon on a night they were celebrated in their final regular season home game.
“It has been one of the best experiences knowing there are so many people here that love and support us,” said Fairbrook, who scored four points on with four three-pointers. “It was a great night.”
Basketball Continues Win Streak
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Julia Razo scored a game-high 27 points as St. Francis posted an 85-44 victory over Monterey Trail. The Troubadours have now won 11 consecutive games.
Razo scored 17 points in the first half as SF took control of the game. Classmate Janae Fairbrook added three triples in the first quarter and Jackie Koerwitz scored 10 of her 16 in the first half.

Soccer Loses Close Battle 2-1 on the Road
DAVIS, Calif. – Senior Savannah Tijerino-Santos scored to give St. Francis a lead but Davis answered with two goals to pull out a 2-1 victory on Thursday night.
“We played them last Friday and lost 4-1 and we played tonight on a rainy night and lose 2-1,” said Head Coach Maryclaire Robinson. “They are very good and they are at the top of the league for a reason. But we battled them and anytime you play them you get a little better because they are so fast. I feel very good.”

Basketball Takes Lead in Delta League with Win over Elk Grove
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Seniors Julia Razo and Janae Fairbrook each scored 19 points as St. Francis defeated Elk Grove 60-55 on Wednesday to take over first place in the Delta League standings.
“We are all on a high right now,” said Razo after the game. “We are just really happy we pulled through.”
St. Francis (16-7, 9-1) pulled ahead with key three-pointers and a big advantage at the free throw line, making 15-of-22 on the night.
